Crack a numbered colour code with exact and misplaced feedback. Play a seeded secret or swap code-setting roles with a friend.
Useful to know
Which rules or content edition is included?
Choose 4–6 positions and 6 or 8 numbered colours. A guess must fill every position and follow the repeated-symbol setting. You have twelve guesses per code. A filled feedback peg marks an exact symbol and position. A hollow peg marks a correct symbol elsewhere. Feedback is a count, not a map to particular guessed positions. Exact matches are removed first; each remaining occurrence is counted once. In solo mode the device creates a seeded secret. In local mode Player 1 sets a private code for Player 2, then the roles swap. Look away during the other player’s setting step; the handoff screen hides the secret. After both local rounds, a solve beats a failed code; fewer guesses wins among solves. Equal outcomes are a draw. Each setter chooses their own secret, so these are friendly scores, not a standardized skill test. Code-setting, handoff and review screens stop the active clock. Secrets stay in memory. Downloaded results omit seeds, secret-setting actions and full guesses; no local score saving occurs for a two-player match.
Does this save or upload my game?
Original Codebreaker edition: 12 guesses, duplicate-aware exact/misplaced counts, 4–6 positions, 6/8 symbols. Secret information and full replay are excluded from public result exports. Solo clean wins can enter matching optional device bests. Games stay in this tab. No server leaderboard, account or remote multiplayer is included.
Can I use a keyboard or phone?
Select a position and type 1–8 or choose a labelled colour. Left/Right changes position; Backspace clears. Enter/Space activates focused buttons.
Do I need to fill in the settings before I can play?
No. Quick play starts a complete built-in round with sensible defaults. Open Customise this game only when you want to change the available settings.
How does automatic continuation work in this game?
Build and submit each guess yourself. A completed solo code opens the final result after a short review. Local code setting, private handoff and the next player remain explicit actions. Use Review this code or Pause for more time, or turn off automatic continuation in the game preferences.
Where are my files and inputs processed?
Play stays in this browser, with no account or remote leaderboard. Personal bests are saved only if you enable that option. Reset clears the round; use Erase device scores to remove those optional records from this browser. Private prompts and answers are excluded from the shared summary actions.
